Subject: A serial relay winsock, please?
I would like a winsock.dll that talks to a networked host via serial line
(modem). The only solutions I've found are SLIP and PPP, which require
modifications to the networked host's Unix kernel and routing tables.
In theory, this is entirely unnecessary. A serial relay winsock.dll would
simply forward all socket operations to an unprivileged server process running
on the networked host. In particular, the effective IP address of the PC
running this winsock.dll would be the same as that of the networked host.
For inspiration, consider the "term" facility of Linux.
I'll write this package myself if I ever find the time. This could take years!
I think this might be a profitable shareware product for someone with a little
spare time. So how about it?

Does it support PPP connections? I am looking at various ways to get
connected to a PPP account. I have the starter Chameleon set but would
like something else if possible. Trumpet Winsock doesn't seem to support
PPP, only SLIP (apart from ethernet of course).
Thanks
